The Mystery of Wisdom.
In the land of Olue, there lived a man called Manuel who had three wives and two kids, each kid resembled his and her mother and none resembled Manuel but he was not perturbed because he reasoned it was a thing of genetics! Instead of him to be bothered, he was going round Olue hosting people to drinks and was blasting their ears with grammars! It got to a point, the king had to suspend him from the village meeting because whenever he spoke, people took 30 minutes to laugh and try to guess the meaning of the words he used!
One day, he called three of his wives and told them that he was traveling to a faraway country to seek greener pastures! According to him, the country needed no visa. His wives were confused but accepted what he said since he was an English Language Teacher and he should know better! The only thing he left with was a copy of the English Dictionary which his grandfather bought for him at the age of 17.
Manuel actually wanted to be an Engineer but he got handicapped by the strong nature of mathematics which he couldn't overcome! Two years later, his wives were yet to hear from him and the only thing they could remember was the hug he shared with his two kids before leaving! It was too deep, like never before.
Whenever he called for meetings, he noticed a decline in the people's response rate and he wondered why! It took him years to notice that Odo Manuel was no longer in their midst and there was nothing he could do about it. When Manuel arrived at Nwiko village, he could not call his wives to inform them of his new abode because there was no telephone service there! So, he settled down for business. The people, the landscape and the language intrigued him! They always arranged a dancing competition to welcome new guests in their midst which they did for him and he vowed never to go back - instead, he was committed to bringing his wife and children over on a later date! He planned his journey so well and had taken time to plan the business he would do in Nwiko the ancient bamboo settlement should he get there!
The snails, the cow meats and the pets made him to forget his surname momentarily! By the time he opened his first teaching centre and the people applauded him, he knew it was time to hatch his main plan. He went to the king and obtained a license to fish in their river! His own fishing technique was superb because he had a rare means of preservation that prolonged the shelf lives of his fishes! So, he sold in faraway towns of Omiko, Cheba and Gazili. Later, the people came to learn from him and he charged them handsomely. Five years after, he decided to retire from the fishing business and face his farm works since his students were doing well but the king refused! Instead of letting him retire in peace, he doubled his servants, boats and nets and Manuel was surprised because even in his hometown, he was not given such maximum attention. Before they knew it, a foreign company signaled their willingness to start a branch there and it was accepted! Sooner than later, investors started coming in and other markets were explored including the hides and skin industry, palm oil and labour market. It was argued that Mr. Manuel Odo was the Chief of Success in that town but no one dragged the title with him! Even the king was happy for him because he his own position. All he cared about was the wellbeing of his people.
Before he left Nwiko for his hometown after 8 years, he had surrounded himself with wise men, virgins and children and they were begging him not to go but he later did! On getting home, he could not believe his eyes! His two wives whom he thought were lazy were doing well for themselves and his third wife was missing him! When he got home, no form of reception ceremony was organized for him and he noticed the difference between the two towns! The kind even fell sick and was paying more attention to herbalists than to businessman. So, Manuel couldn't help.
He wanted to stay in Olue and start a business but he remembered the promise that he made! So, he packed his things and moved to Nwiko but his eldest child remained adamant and they left him behind with the hope of sending him letters! Along the way, he explained to his wives that he was not just an English Language teacher but also a businessman with notable contacts in faraway countries and they were happy for him.
Once he was back at Nwiko, he introduced his wives and the people were happy for him! That same year, his third wife took in and the whole family took care of her! They missed Obiri so much but he had made his own choice. Soon, he was sending them corn from Olue Kingdom.
