A night in the past.

Onukwube the daughter of Zikora was a member of a group in the village called umuokike and her duty was to wash cloths for them whenever they went for a dancing competition or ceremony! Onukwube was so beautiful that Chidera envied her but her only problem was laziness! In school, she was so brilliant that she was made the class perfect but her brilliance was as a result of her selfishness and the effects of her father's words on her! She was so hated by her grandmother that you wouldn't know they came from the same family because Onukwube was also a gossip!

One day, Onukwube discovered the sum of N100 in one of the pockets of the cloths she was washing and it was on a Sunday! So, she didn't return it because nobody was there. Unknown to her, it was a test from the group leader and she failed it! Nwakama Igilo was secretly planning to leave for the United States of America where she would stay with one of her uncles and achieve her dream of being a lawyer through a scholarship given to her by her father's committee of friends after his sudden demise in 2005 and she was looking to choose among the girls a suitable leader to replace her. Seeing that the Onukwube of all people had fallen, she moved on to the next victim or candidate.

During that period, election was fast approaching and they were looking to elect a new local government chairman in their midst but it was not easy cboosing the right candidate also! The elders had gathered, the children had sang and the women were standing akimbo but the fact remained that a decision must be made either in good fate or otherwise! Elder Ukatu had visited his good friends to campaign for Dikeora Amichebe Okonkwo but they told him to wait until they had visited the Oracle! Chike was an altar boy at St. Christopher's Cathedral! So, he prayed for peace to reign throughout the electoral process in Obuka LGA of Ikukuoma State but to no avail because the opposition had decided to clinch the seat either in peace or it pieces and they boasted that they had what it took of which Mazi Dennis Obika was the one spearheading them at The Grand Ubiquitois Party! The list was endless but no one from Onukwube's town of Nwila was contesting and Chike her brother was so side about it even though he prayed silently for Deacon Akilo Matthew to win because they were of the same faith! He dared not discuss political news with the said Onukwube because she was inclined to fashion, kiddies and her own obssession of the future and what it should be!

In a strong build up to the election day, three parties merged and gave way for victory against the GUP camp! After everything, Okanzu Chikwendu Dele of Elegant Future Party from Aniwele community in the same community was declared the winner and the opposition went to court even though they were not in unity as Okanzu Dele was known to treat people well and even had friends among the GUP camp! When he visited Nwila Community on a tour to greet them for their support, Onukwube coughed among the crowd and she was singled out for questioning! At the end, the new local government chairman decided to build a new and highly equipped healthcare facility there to help them recover from stress, fatigue and all forms of illness except laziness because there was no pill for that in the hospital.

When Chike grew up, he became a motivational speaker and did well as a father of two that taught in a modern grammar school in the city with good pay while Onukwube remained in the village despite her brilliance and got married to a Palm wine who beat her one day and tore her wrapper! Her father could not take it anymore and went and brought her home of which his friends supported him.

Though, she never married again, she was happy singing for people at the village square for money every Afor market day as they went to the market in search of profits! Nwamaka heard what happened and sent her gifts from abroad including a letter telling her that she had forgiven her of the secret sin she committed long time ago of which she had forgotten.

Onukwube could not help but cry as the memory came rushing back at her! By that time, the dancing group had scattered after they received a huge sum of money from a client who paid them handsomely to perform at his son's naming ceremony! That same money caused fights and they all scattered!

Now, Onukwube had only herself to look out for but she was so happy that Nwakama Igilo remembered her despite her flaws!
