An Expensive Joke.

Bolaji could not believe his eyes! He had been waiting for a day when his father would call him on phone and tell him to come and take his own share of properties but it never happened! At a point, he got tired of selling okrika! So, he moved to Awka from Onitsha.

In that same city, he met Adaolise and she introduced him to her boss who was a filling station owner and he made him his manager! Bolaji found something funny about the man - he had no child or relative studying in unizik but he always went there during the weekends. Of a truth, the man had no child at all and being a seasoned marketer, Bolaji knew how to mind his business which he did because his experience at the bridge head at Onitsha where he was hustling to make both ends meet had taught him to respect any man who could give him both job and shelter at the same time.

One day, Bolaji received a phone call from his younger brother who was studying at Ademora Secondary School in Ibadan telling him to come back that something terrible had happened! God so kind, Bolaji had enough money in his hand that weekend. So, he went out and bought more MTN airtime and called Oluwaseun back on phone telling him to reveal what happen as he was not willing to leave his base! By that time, he was planning to surprise Adaolise in a big way and wouldn't want to betray the trust his boss had for him! So, he was not willing to go back.

When Seun finally decided to say what happened, he begged Bolaji not to tell anyone that he leaked the information to him and that one agreed. Oluwaseun told him confidently that their father had married a wife for him and that one collapsed! When neighbours noticed what was happening, they called Adaolise to come and take care of him! When Adaolise arrived with her younger brother, Emeka they couldn't do much because the young man was just heavy and was just lying down on the floor.

When they finally secured the help of the people around to help drag him to the chemist around, the chemist had closed! Tears filled her eyes as Bolaji could not even recognize her presence being that he had passed out earlier and was in coma! For the first time in their relationship, she recalled how they met.

Chioma had just stolen her N50, 000 because they were roommates and she was looking for where to report her only for her to bump into this young man who was pushing a wheelbarrow at Eke-Awka and she was fascinated by his energetic moves! So, she stopped to ask him questions. Of a truth, Chioma returned that N50k a week later because the online program she wanted to register for did not hold again! Thanks to goodness, she did not report her to any police station again but to Bolaji and that one made peace between the two of them! From there, they got talking and she realized he needed a job.

While they were still in front of the close chemist shop at Ifite-Awka, they sensed a movement inside and they were tensed! Soon, a standing smoke in the form of a human being came out from a little opening on the door of the chemist shop and passed them. Adaolise could not believe her eyes but Emeka beckoned to remain motionless which she did and the thing passed. Immediately they got home at about 11:03pm, Bolaji regained consciousness and asked for honey which they couldn't provide and he went back to sleep.

In the morning, he told them what happened and the started laughing! When he asked them what was so funny about the whole episode, they pointed out to him that the previous day was the 1st day in the month of April and that his brother could be playing an April fool prank on him and he agreed. For the first time after that phone call, his mind relaxed.

They could not tell him their own side of the story because it looked so real and they wouldn't want him to faint again. Bolaji later went back to work on Monday but his boss didn't know what happened since he was still busy with one unizik girl shopping in Asaba. Bolaji vowed never to take after his boss in terms of relationships but wanted to be as rich as he.

Later, Seun called to apologize for his misdeed.
