The Missing Princess.
In the ancient times, there was a village facing a big forest in the western part of Nigeria. That village had strong men, so many women and children who went to the farm together! One of their major occupations was farming, another one was fishing and they engaged in the production of charcoal. This made it possible for industry leaders to locate them despite the fact that they were almost in a thick bush! These industry leaders helped them to build some major roads, send their children to school and picked their youths up to learn work but their king was a stubborn man. As at that time, he had a daughter who was called Edomi and she was not interested in being called a princess because her father magnified that name above human lives.
King Adetun of Owondo land could not chase away the investors in his land because he knew the importance of letting the people mingle with people who have newer knowledge. One day, the princess went for a sight seeing in Aliwodo a neighbouring town and she did not come back until after three days! The king was in rage because he thought that the poor village boy who was dating her had asconded with her! When he sent bodyguards to fetch him, they reported that he was nowhere to be found! Unknown to them, he had drown in a river!
While the king was busy searching for his princess, Ade's parents were busy looking for him. When the princess finally came back, she heard that the king was willing to let her marry Ade because he reasoned that it was better than losing his daughter because of his stubbornness. So, she went in search of him but by the time she got to his house, their family house had been burnt down and his parents were no longer there! Ade's father had packed his things and left with his wife to his in-law's place because of how the king's bodyguards had been coming to his house asking him to provide Ade and the missing princess. When she got home, she confided in her father that she had only gone to a city to learn how to read and write so that she could make money from the foreigners who came to their village to buy woods, gums and straw as an interpreter and the king was grieved because he had accused the innocent boy wrongly.
He was more promising when he was young but with the old liars he listened to now, he knew he was doomed because the young boy was his citizen and ought to have been taken care of! When Ade's corpse was finally found, they organized a befitting burial for him and the king and his cabinet ordered his parents to come back as no one would harrass them!
Till today, no one knew what happened to Ade and the princess went on to marry a lorry driver in the village who turned out to be a nice husband and she forgot her sorrows! Before the king died, he made sure that Ade's name was added in the book of the Heroes of Owondo and made sure that his parents were exempted from paying tax.
Edomi later relocated to the city where she gave birth to a set of twins and called one Ade! Her husband was happy but didn't know the story behind that name.
The king later died and was replaced by his son, Bamiro.
