The Month of Money.

In the far east of the Niger, there was a man who lost his son to kidnappers and promised that whosoever that could help him find his son would get a handsome reward! The man was rich. So, there was no doubt as to whether he could fulfill his promises. The problem was where to get willing souls.

So, Ebuka went out of his way to make the search a success! He plucked oranges from his mother's compound and send them to all the chiefs in the village as gift and they accepted them with delight because those particular oranges had healing powers and were never known to disappoint. One of his requests was that they should allow their sons come out to assist in the search for Mazi Ude's eldest son who was known as Ifechukwu and they agreed but concluded that the search should only be done during the dry season as it was raining and they wouldn't want their sons to get hurt in the forests just because of a rich man's son! Ebuka waited for another 3 months and the youths came out!

At the end of everything, they didn't find Ifechukwu. The man cried and forgot his son. He rewarded them with half of the money he promised and they were happy. Ebuka went to the city to fend for himself after settling his boys while his mother kept receiving requests from people to sell oranges to them and she obliged! By the time Ebuka came back, she had built another hut.

Ifechukwu found himself in the midst of a thick forest because the lorry convey ing them had collapsed and the kidnappers wouldn't want to add another burden to themselves. So, they let him go! For three days, he did not eat as he was wandering inside the thick forest looking for a way out! After much suffering and doubts, he landed in another village. The first girl who saw him ran away thinking he was a mad man or a kidnapper! The second one couldn't even talk to him because of how dirty he was and then came Chiamaka!

Chiamaka was the daughter of Akuanusi who invented the first cassava processing plant in Mulume village but had no sponsor to finance his business ideas! So, instead of being a mass producer of the machine, he ended up being an operator to the one he created! When she saw him, she greeted him and he was thrilled! She took him round the village after he had gone down to the village stream to clean himself up! After three days, he was ready to go back home but he vowed to take Chiamaka with him but that was a harculeen task because the young man she was bethroted to objected to it. They had a wrestling match and Nwunde beat Ifechukwu blue black. Seeing that there was nothing else he could do, he decided to stay and learn the people's way of life.

Mazi Akuanusi gave him a piece of farmland to cultivate in but he was not used to such jobs as a rich man's son! So, he later joined the man at his cassava processing station and the business was progressing until one day!

The day Ebuka came to that town to buy snails for his madam in the city was the day Ifechukwu had another reason to go home! On getting home, Mazi Ude rewarded Ebuka fully and everybody rejoiced!

Though, Chiamaka was so fond of him, she had to let go!
